New painting : Metal blue
Constellation - 97 x 130 oil canvas (38.2" x 51.2")
Climbing above turbulences, passengers
on the Air France Connie enjoy the pressurized cabin, looking
forward to the meal that will soon be served. The Constellation
is equipped with four Wright R-3350 engines, the most powerful
engine available for commercial airplanes; the twin row, supercharged,
air-cooled, radial engine has 18 cylinders and develops 2500 hp
to power the huge three-blade, 15 ft diameter propeller. That
makes 144 spark plugs to keep under close monitoring ! |

New painting : Super G departure
- 100 x 100 oil canvas (39.4" x 39.4")
1955: Air France starts operating the Super G on its flagship
route between New York and Paris, with the exclusive "Parisien
Special" service. A key improvement over the Constellation
is the larger cabin that offers passengers "better comfort,
better air conditioning and better sound proofing"
In 1956, airliners overtake ocean liners in terms of traffic on
the Paris-New York route. The
Super G clearly contributed to this milestone.

New
painting : B314 departure from La Guardia - 80 x 160
oil canvas (31.5" x 63.0")
1941: war rages across Europe. The US are not engaged yet in Europe;
business goes as usual.
Lisboa and the Azores are still operated by the Americans. B314's
carry artists, diplomats, business men and secret agents over the
Atlantic Ocean. A big cantilever monoplane, four-engine airliner,
the B314 is the best in its class; on board, a high-end sleeper
service is available under the supervision of a dedicated cabin
crew. |
